Ever since unexpected updates this week, WoW has hit latency hell for me (I've logged latencies of over 9000, no joke). This has led to some rather inconvenient d/cs in the middle of raids and instances. A few of my other guildies have been experiencing the same issues. Has anyone else? Does anyone know how to correct this? Current Mood: frustrated |

Update on the Vegas Blizzcon front! However as of this afternoon, the Las Vegas Convention Center emailed us to let us know that due to their human error, the confirmation they were giving was false.
According to the LVCC, Blizzard and the LVCC had spoken once about having BlizzCon 2010 in Las Vegas, and a hold was placed on those dates as a marketing tactic to entice Blizzard to the area. However, that hold was inadvertently turned into a confirmed booking, leading to the inaccurate confirmations and resulting issues.
The LVCC has apologized for the confusion, and thus ends the saga of BlizzCon in Las Vegasfrom wow.com |

Ummm ... did I miss something? Double double edit: I'm not sure what the problem was still, but it appears to have been fixed. I did a router restart [well, I shut it off for around thirty minutes anywa] and it's fixed. This may be a solution? So, the game and the forums are down? Was there some announcement of oddly timed maintenance that nobody was told about? I did manage to log in once, after about 5 mins of waiting at the connecting screen, but it only brought up the development realms and then wouldn't connect. >_> Edit: It appears that even worldofwarcraft.com and blizzard.com are having XML problems as well? Double edit: I did manage to 'log in' twice, but half the servers were missing and WoW crashed upon trying to connect to any of them. stuff and things
So. I've got a schwinn that I bought a year ago and rode twice for sell. $150. It's a womens hybrid and really awesome because I have long legs and could actually fit comfortably on the bike. Also...I bought an antique curio cabinet and need to move it out of the auction place. Does anybody have a truck they're willing to share? I'm tossing the idea of bribing whoever comes to help me with beer/food. :) Thats all. I love each and every one of you. I swear. |

Blizzcon 2010!
July 30 and 31st. Most importantly? In Las Vegas. Edit: this from WOW.com, where i initially got the previous info: "Update: Blizzard has responded to let us know that they haven't announced any details regarding their next BlizzCon, and that they recommend everyone refrain from making any travel plans at this time. However, the Las Vegas Convention Center has confirmed this booking and continues to list it on their calendar." |

Northrend Metals
Blizzard seems to have had a significant continuity screw up with saronite. There's various quests with it being some mystic mind-destroying substance. Now the Icecrown rep faction is going to be some crafters "who discovered how to bend saronite to our will." Meanwhile miners have been carrying cartloads about and every plate-wearer in the game has had some saronite gear on without the slightest ill effect. The Blizzard crafting team should've picked something else to be between cobalt and titanium. It's a big periodic table. Or maybe make something up. Have a metal sacred to the night elf goddess, so malleable that you can make cloth-weight gear in it. I think night elf priests would look good wrapped in Elune-ium foil. Current Mood: mischievous |

What I'm most excited about with Cataclysm.
Yes, the gameworld will be changed. Yes, we'll be able to level further. But I want a new login screen. I liked the WotLK login screen at first, how cool to have a dragon flying around on it, but when you're trying to log in and don't realize your volume is up that danged roar is LOUD and you never know if you're going hear it on login or not. That's especially annoying when you're spouse is annoyed with how much you've been playing recently and you really are just popping on to check your auctions. |

Activity reports...
I know about the warcraftrealms.com/census however, I am more interested in a site that will give me a report on the population and activity of realms in a list or a report; unlike the census where you have to look at the realms one by one. Any help out there? EDITWhat I am looking for specifically, is a high population realm; I prefer Alliance side. Specifically, I would require late night or weekend raids. Preferably something casual but beggers can not be choosers. I would take any suggestions :) |

Tips for an ungeared lock?
After my account was hacked in April, I took a long break from WoW. But I'm back, and on a new realm in a guild that I love, starting fresh! Currently my main is a lvl 52 pally. But I have that lonely lvl 80 lock on my old realm. Its a brand new 80- After I hit level cap, I focused more on the other faction because my friend was leveling a toon there. So I want to transfer my 80 to my new realm, but it is so undergeared- I'm kind of embarrassed! Also the majority of my gold is gone (hacked). I do, however, have 450 mining (from the hacker, actually). Also talioring but its only something like 350-375ish. So any tips to improve my 80 lock soloing? Or should I just transfer it over anyway and see how my guild can help me out as far as running things? |

New Loot!
New loot information from Patch 3.3 is available on MMO Champ and World of Raids. The Quel'Dalar questchain rewards are HAWT (the only exception I've seen so far is that the 2h DPS Strength version has Haste on it for some idiotic reason, where as the AGI version has a ton of sexxxy Armor Pen), as are some of the Emblem of Frost items. So far, I'm not impressed with Icecrown Raid gear though. Assuming the information is correct, the Heroic versions of the three new 5-mans will be dropping ilvl 232 gear. The normal versions will be dropping ilvl 219 gear. o_0 http://www.worldofraids.comhttp://www.mmo-champion.com |

open up my eager eyes, 'cuz i'm mr. brightside
I'm alive. A bit of a mental affliction, but alive. I updated the stylesheet on my LJ to a fun, funky layout... just 'cause, really. I've been playing with stylesheets on another journal I'm starting (a fic journal, which I will not be linking to from here because I'd kinda like to keep the absolutely craziness of my sudden, strong Merlin obsession away from my "personal" stuff as much as possible... we'll see how that goes) and will be doing so again for a community as well. So I figured, well. It'll take me all of five minutes, why not use one of the layouts I liked but just wouldn't work for the Merlin stuff on my personal journal! And hey, while I'm at it, why not post! Only, I don't have a whole lot to say. I'm wanting to start updating again, as I always am, but already with the many side projects I've decided to take on ALL AT ONCE because I am INSANE, I'm finding myself with not enough hours in the day to get through all the things I need to be doing. So here's my quick update: I am twenty-eight now. How the fuck did that happen? Working part time, going to school part time. Taking three classes: Screenwriting, Culture & The Media, and Interpersonal Communication. Broke up with Dax about a year ago. About time to start dating again, I guess. Meh. Puppy's doing fine, he's as lovable as ever. Had a horribly itchy summer, though... the fleas were crazy. Everyone and their mother is living at home right now. It really tries your patience. I'm starting to really remember why I ran off to San Luis Obispo. Val and I have an Etsy shop: bohemianstorm.etsy.com! Go look at the pretties, tell your friends. When our Etsy shop does well, or when I've sold off a kidney on the black market, we are going to go hang around France and try not to be creepy. Hopefully in May-ish of next year. We'll see. --- So there you have it. Wish me luck with my CSS adventures, and now I gotta go finish up a beta I've been working on slowly all week, in between numerous distractions! Allergist
Hi Denver! I need an allergist please. My right eye keeps swelling shut, oh dear god it hurts, and the eye drops don't work, so now I need help systemically. Yea! So I need an allergist whom deals with Seasonal Allergic Conjunctivitis (oh yes, I have a diagnosis). I'm on the west side, but where ever that isn't Aurora is fine. And I read somewhere that they have alternatives to allergy shots now? In pill form maybe? Because I had lots of allergy shots and skin tests as a kid and I was traumatized. Huzzah for new technology. Thanks! |

Moon Guard...
My realm does not seem to offer what I want, and I am intrigued by the high population on Moon Guard, I am going to transfer. So without further a-do, does anyone here play on Moon Guard? Any Moon Guard casual guilds looking for a Resto Shaman? I do not usually RP, but I will not rain on your parade if you choose to. |

RP questions...
So now that I've been an 80 for a while, I've been considering hopping realms and getting immersed into a RPPVP server. Any recommendations for a server that has a good Horde group going for them? How do you RP out/deal with the whole "death -> run to corpse -> return" thing? Act as if the kill never happened and that you were just unconscious? What about daily quests/instances, such as Onyxia's weekly respawn (is it a "Oh, why won't she just stay dead?!") and by the same token, battlegrounds? Are tells considered out of character? Just curious, as I haven't RPed in -quite- some time. Current Mood: CaffinatedCurrent Music: WoW --- Trial of the Champion |

Playing WoW on a laptop
If I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS330D laptop with a Mobile IntelĀ® 4 Series Express Chipset Family video card in it, am I going to be able to play WoW? (And by play, I mean with some degree if not-suckage.) I am getting conflicting reports from various Google sources, and I don't want to try installing everything and getting all excited to play again and discovering that no, it sucks big time on my laptop. :( Thanks! :) |

Imogen Heap Concert
Last night, Katie, Bob, Ben, and I went to the Imogen Heap concert at the Henry Fonda Music Box Theater. I am no longer equipped to handle standing for 5 hours "for entertainment." Man, I used to be able to stand for as long and dance in heels. I dunno whether this comes from being older, or just out of shape, or because I think I had a drop in blood sugar during the concert causing me to sway a bit. It's the sign of a diabetic not to be able to tell if lower back pain stems from lack of arch support or possible kidney failure. :P Anyway, lesson learned: any time I procure tickets for a concert that is at a venue that potentially does not have typical stadium or theatre seating (i.e. HoB), I'm going for balcony seats. For a pro, Imogen's show was kind of "in shambles" (her words, not mine). It started late and she kept apologizing and excusing her inability to remember lyrics by proffering the fact that it was the first night of the tour. Not to mention that one half of the older lesbian couple that was making out near the front fainted flat on her face right near our group in the middle of the show. That was awkward, worrisome, annoying and kind of funny in a mean way all at the same time. Immi was blissfully oblivious because she misunderstood the guy who was calling out for security and started telling a story and dancing excitedly across the stage. Katie freaked out "like a frightened hamster" and ran (or squeezed her way, rather) to the back of the venue. I myself was torn between wanting to help (since I could have easily been the fainting one if my blood sugar had gotten low enough) and wanting to poke her with my foot (because she and her partner were so obnoxious earlier). It also irritated me that, after the woman regained consciousness, that she was insisting that she was fine and wanted to stay. Um, hello? You fell. FLAT ON YOUR FACE. Fortunately, security escorted her out, presumably to where she could be seen to by a nurse. I mean, if I thought my emergency candy wasn't going to keep me upright, I would have gone against my sense of hygiene and asked someone to help me to the ladies' room, where there was a fully stocked candy bar. Yes. There was a fully stocked candy bar in the rest room. I came out of it in a huff and met Bob and Ben in the lobby. "Can you believe it? There is a candy bar in the bathroom!" I exclaimed incredulously. "Yeah, isn't it awesome?" Bob replied. "No, it's disgusting!" Ben laughed. "I love how you two have completely polar reactions to it." "Dude, I do not want to buy nuts anywhere near where I sh*t," I said. To which Ben replied, "Well, I don't have that problem because my nuts are always near where I sh*t." The show itself was alright, though. I have to say, Imogen is not exactly what I'd call photogenic, but she's very cute in real life. Ben commented that she has a way of talking like Vilmarie (that is, a stream of consciousness type banter with flying tangents and almost only to herself), which is true, not to say that it isn't also endearing. I bet she could have tacked on at least three more songs and been done on time if she wasn't so loquacious, but she still mostly delivered. I really attended for the showy part of the show. That is, I don't care to listen to much of her recorded stuff, it was seeing her work her magic live that did it for me. Most of the other concerts I've been to have been because I really like the music, but with her it was more because I like the act. Yeah, the songs are pleasing to the ear, but with her I feel like the magic is mostly in the making. It's like art, like a Happening, birth. I mean, the songs are already written, but the execution is so dynamic, almost organic and very alive and new. She really gets a kick out of doing it, like an alchemist, like a mad scientist. We still skipped out before the last song and encore, though, because it was already almost midnight and while I was turning into a pumpkin, Katie, Bob, and Ben had work in the morning. Speaking of work, I should be getting ready for that. After today, I still have a busy week ahead. Yay, weekend of wedding showers! Current Mood: tired |
